“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
JEREMIAH 33:3.
I don’t know what it’s like to be married.
But I know the relationship between a man and his wife is a miniature representation of the relationship between a believer and God.
Bringing it down to close friendships now – marriage, clearly, ain’t my forte – we all always want that one person we can offload and rant to about anything and everything. Truth is, you won’t always feel like listening to your friend everytime – there would be times that you or your friend might be dealing with some personal issues and might be emotionally or physically unavailable.
Many times, we tend to have this subconscious way of taking God’s place in each other’s life, and when we begin to perform below each other’s expectations, offences and trouble set in.
The thing is, no one has the capacity to take God’s place. No matter how hard we love, it pales compared to God’s love for us. He is the best love. He is never too busy to pick our calls.
When God offered us a lifetime of partnership, an underlying message was, “You can be vulnerable with me, let me know where it hurts.” When He made plans to share an intimate relationship with us, He was low-key saying, “I want to be involved in even the smallest details of your life.”
I tell Him about my good and bad days. I let Him know about that tiny issue that got me riled up. I gist Him about my crush. You can too. He can be your God and confidant too, if you let Him. You can tell Him all your weaknesses and not fear what He thinks of you.
When you call God, He doesn’t only listen patiently and thoughtfully, He proffers solution to everything that bothers you.
Tears are calls too.
And yeah, God still answer knee-mails.
God is ever ready to listen, and you can’t wear Him out.
What more?
When we call God, we need not worry about running out of airtime; He always answers the phone, and calls made to Him are with no charges. So no worries about bad network and low call-credits.
So, whenever you feel so lonesome because you’re not in a relationship, and you have no one to share your worries with, remember you are in a relationship with God, you have His phone number – just call Him and tell Him everything that’s on your mind.
Doesn’t that make you want to ring Him up right away?
