You’ll be fine.

“You’ll be fine.”

Over the past few weeks, that’s been my favorite sentence in the whole English language. I say it everyday.

The last few days haven’t been the easiest. Between leaving home and multiple deadlines and registrations, I felt anxious and overloaded. At one point, I sat down and I started to cry. I am a believer that sometimes you just need a good cry… to me, it’s like a reset. It clears out some junk so you can keep going.

I watched me at that moment and honestly I didn’t really try to hold anything together. I get tired and cranky too. Slowly I consoled myself, “You’re okay, Agnes. You’ll be fine.” “You’ll be fine” is internalized already. It’s an assurance in my heart now.

But sometimes all we need to hear is “You’ll be fine.” We don’t need to know we are killing it. We don’t need all the solutions to our problems. Some days we just need someone to tell us, “You’re okay. Maybe not everything around you is okay but YOU are okay.”

The things around you might not be okay. The circumstances might not be okay. But YOU – you are here and you are okay. You don’t have to be having the best day or the worst day ever. It’s okay to be just okay.

You’re okay and you’ll be fine. You’re out here making it through. You might be tired and frayed and exhausted but you are okay. The fact that you’re still standing, still here reading this, is a big deal.

You’re making it. And even if today or tomorrow feels hard, please know that you’re doing remarkably hard things just by showing up today. The victory for today might just be putting on your wears and that’s okay. You’re okay. You’ll be fine.

In spite of all the troubling things going on around me in the world, my daily confession would be the words of Psalm 118:24… “This is the day of the LORD’s victory; let us be happy, let us celebrate!”

You’ve got this. This too shall pass.
